Every good thing must come to an end… even the 2008 PokerNews Cup Australia.
It has been another fabulous year and we are definitely going to be back for more this time next year at what will then be the newly refurbished Crown Entertainment Complex - the gaming jewel of the Southern Hemisphere.
While you rest and look forward to the next event on the poker calendar, the PokerNews Team is already hard at work for the next PokerNews Cup… here’s a taste of what to expect in 2009.

After a week of great poker, great food, and great friends - everyone headed to the official PokerNews Cup Australia Player Party to hang out with Tony G & his mates, the Crown crew and the rest of the players to party the night away.

Nali Kaselias’ fantastic PNC Australia Main Event Final Table appearance won him the title and the incredible $250,000 prize money.
Nali bested a field of 410 entrants consisting of players from all across the globe - including some of the industry’s big names (Joe Hachem, Lee Nelson, Tony G, Mark Vos, Billy the Croc) and some of the world’s toughest online players.

213 players made their way down to the Crown Poker Room in Crown Casino, Melbourne to compete in the Event 6 $550 No Limit 6 Handed Event. Things progressed quickly and in only a matter of 12 hours, the champion was determined and over $100,000 was given away.

Things are going extremely well for satellite qualifier, Kenneth Damm as he took down the title at the Event 5 Tony G Celebrity Shootout Event and $26,583 in prize winnings. Additionally, a day after Damm arrived in the country, he won the private freeroll held for special PokerNews package winners at Crown… All this before the anticapted Main Event.

Event 3 $240 Pot Limit Omaha (with rebuys) gave local player, Jamie Pickering something to brag about as he took home the title and $22,170 in prize money.

Capped at 90 players, Event 2 $115 No Limit Holdem Deep Stack kicked off at the Crown Poker Room’s nine PokerPro Tables (the dealer-less digital tables with both touch screen and community displays) and hosted some fierce and often reckless tournament play.
Local player, Mark Casale took home the title of Prince of PokerPro and $2,700 for his efforts.
Event 3 is set to begin shortly. Stay glued to Live Reporting to catch all the action direct from the Southern Hemisphere’s most lavish poker facility.
